Munich easily can be reached either by air, by
train or by car. If you travel by air, the small village Halbergmoos near
the airport Munich-Erding is the natural place to stay overnight. Situated
near the Isar cycle path, approx. 16 km from the centre of Munich, it
is more economic and quieter to stay outside of the big city.
Of course also a train connection, the "S-Bahn" connects Munich
airport with the main railwaystation.
The English Garden,
the twin towers of
theFrauenkirche or the Hofbräuhaus
with the big beer-garden, Munich offers a singular flair of a metropolis
of Bavarian "Gemutlichkeit". The river Isar flows through the
very centre of Munich. The river banks are popular recreational areas
of the inhabitants. Following the Isar, the cycle path soon leaves the
hectic centre through dense forests. The surface is paved but not tarmaced.
Landshut and Straubing are famous medival towns on the Isar. In Deggendorf
the Isar joins the floods of the Danube, who will bring you to the three-river-city
Passau.
In Passau the rivers Inn and Ilz flow into the river Danube. Here also
the most famous part of the Danube cycle path starts. The Schlogener Schlinge,
Linz, Melk, world heritage Wachau, Krems, Tulln and Klosterneuburg are
only some of the highlights waiting for you in Austria.
