From Passau to Vienna: Classic Tour - Tour of
Classics
For many a passioned cyclists
the Danube cycle trail between Passau and Vienna was the first experience,
planting the seed of addiction to this special way of travelling.

Very well signposted
on dedicated cycle paths or on quiet roads following the river valley,
the Danube Cycle Trail is quite relaxing and undemanding.
Historical cities, cultural monuments or simply the old vineyards - great
variety offers great enjoyment. The cyclist is a well regarded and hospitably
welcomed guest.
One highlight is the Danube Sling at Schlogen
(s. picture below) where the Danube is forced to change direction by almost
360 °. Here, at the traditional old inn "Zur Fährfrau"
the oldest bicycle-ferry travels
between the two riverbanks. The family Pumberger serves homemade
specialities and homebrewed cider.
A very charming idea was realized by a chain of farms, offering Bed and
Breakfast under the motto Cycling from
Farm to Farm. Best value, comfortable and traditional hospitality
welcome the guest.

When planning the tour, please take into consideration
the important public holidays in Bavaria
and Austria during May and June as the Danuble Cycle Trail is very
popular also with the locals. The tourist information
in Passau will offer you advice.
NEW: Visit "Service Point EUROBIKE" in
Kramesau (near Jochenstein), for information, minor technical problems
or simply to enjoy the restfull garden of
the inn "Mostschenke Trauttendorfer" with homemade cakes and
snacks.
